Background and Philosophy

My educational and training experience with Object Relations , Attachment , Transpersonal, Client Centered , and Family Systems theory afford me the opportunity to help clients better understand the hidden or unconscious issues and conflicts that can underlie their presenting concerns. My treatment approach is guided by these theories, and includes strategies and interventions associated with psychodynamic , cognitive behavioral , dialectical behavior , and family based (e.g., structural and systemic ) therapies.

Additionally, my own journey has drawn me to helping survivors of traumatic experiences to more effectively and fully address, process, "move through", and eventually heal from the debilitating symptoms associated with ALL levels of trauma. I utilize the following treatment modalities in my work with clients suffering from the aftermath of trauma: Brainspotting, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Mindful Compassion, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and various Behavioral interventions.

As with all of my clients, I offer my trauma clients the treatments they best respond to, not the modality I am most fond of. However, as a fully certified Brainspotting practitioner, I have found that Brainspotting is a uniquely focused and effective treatment that often resolves trauma symptoms quickly and thoroughly. I feel privileged to use these powerful tools to assist my clients identify, confront and resolve the specific patterns, behaviors or circumstances that may be hindering their efforts to realize their dreams, aspirations, and goals.

Clients who seem to benefit most from my style of Psychotherapy are those motivated to work and build on their "therapeutic gains", possess the courage to face the difficult feelings and realizations that can emerge in the process of therapy, and who seek the degree of happiness and contentment associated with feeling at peace with one's self and others.
